QuEChERS


QuEChERS (pronounced Catchers), an acronym for Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe, is a sample extraction and clean-up technique widely used for the analysis of multiple residues in hydrated agricultural products.

QuEChERS extraction reagents for all of the popular QuEChERS methods are available in individual metalized pouches for your convenience. Each pack of 50 pouches comes with racks of 50 empty centrifuge tubes with plug seal caps.

UCT’s QuICK QuEChERS push-thru cartridges eliminate the need for shaking and centrifugation of extracts during sample clean-up, significantly reducing sample processing time. In addition, unlike with dSPE centrifuge tubes, there is no risk of sorbent particles being further transferred to autosampler vials.

After QuEChERS sample extraction:
1. Draw 1mL of sample extract into a disposable syringe
2. Push the extract through the cartridge into an autosampler vial
3. Sample is ready for analysis
The QuEChERS method, first developed in 2003, used graphitic carbon black (GCB) as a sorbent to remove chlorophyll. While GCB is effective in removing chlorophyll from samples, it also removes planar (polar aromatic) pesticides such as chlorothalonil, coumaphos, hexachlorobenzene, thiabendazole, terbufos, quintozene and others, resulting in low recoveries for these analytes. Use of solvents of increasing polarity can remove the planar pesticides from GCB but with an increase in background interferences. UCT has developed a new solid phase sorbent that effectively removes chlorophyll without the loss of planar analytes or adding to background interference. The ChloroFiltr sorbent is used in QuEChERS cleanup products in place of GCB. No method modification is necessary when ChloroFiltr is substituted for GCB.
